Eddie Cantor was born Edward Israel Iskowitz on January 31, 1892 in New York City. He was orphaned at age of two and raised by his grandmother. Cantor was a vaudeville performer and singing waiter and appeared in Gus Edwards' Kid Kabaret, in Ziegfeld's Midnight Frolics in 1916 and star in successive Ziegfeld Follies, 1917-1919.
